The ‘Become a Skin Specialist’ course not only covers classic facials and facial electrics but also includes advanced aesthetic treatments and an in-depth understanding of skin conditions like acne, rosacea, and pigmentation.In comparison to the ‘Become a Facialist’ course, this program goes further by providing the Level 2 and Level 3 foundation in facial skincare and facial electrics, and then adds Level 4 training in advanced treatments. The course provides both the theory and practical training needed to become a skilled practitioner in advanced aesthetics.

What You’ll Learn:

Level 2 & 3 Facial Skincare Treatments

This module lays the foundation for essential facial skills:

Client consultation and skin analysis to identify the needs of your clients
Facial treatments including steaming, extraction, and masque application
Facial electrics such as micro-current, high frequency, and galvanic treatments
Face, neck, and shoulder massage for relaxation and rejuvenation

Course Outline

The theory portion of your course is completed online through easy-to-follow webinars, PowerPoints, and downloadable manuals. If you prefer a printed manual, you can purchase one here. This flexible learning approach ensures you’re well-prepared to focus on practical skills during training days. You’ll also complete written assessments to show your understanding.

The time it takes to complete the theory online varies, but it typically takes anywhere from 6 months to 12 months, depending on how many hours you dedicate each day.

Your practical training will take place at the nearest centre, with locations across the UK & Ireland, making it easy to attend. We want you to finish feeling confident and competent, so we don’t limit the number of practical days. For beginners course to become a skin specialist the minimum is ten days, but if you need more practice, you can book extra sessions at no additional charge!

– Facial Skincare is two days

– Facial Electrics is two days

– Skin Peels, Skin needling & Radiofrequency 3 days

– If you do not feel confident after then you can book extra days no further charge!

Practical Training Schedule:

9:15am: Arrival for a 9:30am start
9:30am – 11am: Review of theory
11am – 1pm: Practice consultations and treatments on each other
1pm onwards: Models come in for case study completion
4:30pm – 5pm: Finish

This structure ensures you get hands-on experience and the support you need to succeed.

– Practical training days will consist of a demo in the morning and then practising on models the rest of the time

You will need to complete:

Written Assessment needs to be submitted and passed before moving to the next stage

Theory exams

– 1 x theory exam Facial Skincare

– 1 x theory exam for Facial Electrics

– 1 x theory exam each for Skin Peels, Skin Needling & Radiofrequency

– 1 x Anatomy & Physiology

– There are two parts to each exam. 70% is required to move on to practical training

Practical assessment An IQA examiner will be booked to come to observe a treatment carried out by you and observe our assessors. VTCT is continuing assessment which means with practical you keep doing until you get it right.

Once you complete the practical assessment and passed then we submit it to VTCT to claim for a certificate.

Course Structure

Course Duration:

12 weeks to 6 months for online theory (depending on your study pace)
7 days of practical training at our centre (additional days available at no extra cost if needed)
2 days for the exam

All products and tools are provided for the training days at the centre when you attend. No kit is required to complete the training days, nor included in the course fee. Tea & coffee are provided on the training days.

VTCT is a Government approved Awarding Body offering National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs) and other vocationally related qualifications (VRQs). VTCT has been in existence for over forty years and has been at the forefront of developing the vocational system of qualifications in the United Kingdom.

After completing the course, you will receive qualifications, recognised across the world that are fully Insurable

Once you have completed all training and coursework, you will arrange to attend a practical assessment day to achieve your VTCT/CIBTAC qualification.

When you have successfully completed the course, you will receive a certificate issued by us. This not only demonstrates your commitment to the training but also allows you to obtain Public Liability insurance so you can start offering treatments to paying clients from home or mobile.

Once you have completed your assessment days you will also receive your VTCT/CIBTAC qualification certificate (this can take up to 12 weeks to be released from the awarding body VTCT/CIBTAC).
